A Glenview new build, layered and made personal.
A family of four, recently arrived from Europe, came to Studio MAK with a brand-new Glenview home and a sensibility that the builder finish didn't yet reflect. They wanted room to spread out, but they also wanted something more personal than a new build typically offers, traditional, layered, quietly characterful.
They knew what they loved. Art, transitional design, understated character, nothing fussy or overly formal, but nothing plain or expected either. The house was already finished. What it needed was depth and a point of view, and that became the whole of our role.
We led the full design process and worked through every part of the home, the main living spaces, kitchen, and bathrooms, then the hallways, bedrooms, and kids' rooms. Smarter paint decisions and layered lighting gave the rooms dimension. Custom millwork and built-ins brought in permanence. New wallcoverings, updated tile, and collected furnishings and decor layered in the warmth and artfulness the house had been missing.
The finished home feels polished but comfortable, traditional but fresh, and unmistakably connected to the family who lives there. The same new construction house, now with the character it never had on its own.
